APPA 2020 Board Meeting Summary

The APPA Board held its most recent meeting over Zoom on Friday 28 August 2020. Below is a summary of the meeting from President Robert Williams:

The agenda item that took up most of this Board meeting was APPA Search. Enhancing APPA Search was the number one priority identified by members earlier this year and is the number one priority in the strategic plan. This is a complex project and a sub-committee of the Board has spent a considerable amount of time exploring options. Although a decision hasn’t been reached as yet, we are continuing to explore these options and aim to make a final decision as soon as possible.

Another key objective of the strategic plan is to re-establish State Committees. These committees will comprise of member volunteers who will organize local events for members to engage more regularly with APPA, network with their industry colleagues and attend educational events. Associations rely on the skills and enthusiasm of its members to ‘volunteer on the ground’ locally and APPA will soon be calling for your support!

Another call for volunteers is the director positions on the Board with this year, three positions are now available. Applications are now open and close on Monday 28th September and we encourage all members to consider applying for these important roles to guide our Association forward.

The 2019/2020 accounts are now internally finalized and with the auditors. These will be provided to the members with the Notice of AGM, along with recommended changes to the Constitution as discussed at this meeting. These Constitutional changes are minor and do not affect members nor the way APPA is governed. Due to COVID, the AGM will be hosted virtually this year in November.

We also confirmed the addition of five new members and have also postponed this year’s membership renewal date to offer a free membership period for members.

Although we are currently in challenging times, the Board is confident that exciting times are ahead for APPA. If any member wishes to discuss these Board’s activities, please do not hesitate to email me at
