APPA Member Premium Apparel looks to the Future
In January 2019 Premium Apparel had the job of moving over 1 million pieces of apparel across Auckland to a new warehouse, no small task by any stretch of the imagination.
They have moved into a brand new, purpose-built facility on Highbrook Drive in Auckland’s East Tamaki, designed to create a great atmosphere and area for their team to come to work, tick off all the Health and Safety related boxes, and future-proof our distribution for new product for years to come. Premium Apparel has certainly achieved these Goals, with a very light and airy work space, fully airconditioned and equipped with the latest in VNA Warehousing Technology.
Even more technical developments lie ahead for Premium Apparel later this year. In the pipe line, for example, Premium Apparel plans to move to a tablet based picking system that will ensure the order pickers are taking the shortest route around the warehouse and multiple other customer facing developments are in the works.
The new facility has allowed a floor area reduction from 3 warehouses totalling over 3500m2 to just 2730m2, but 15 metres high, and increased capacity of almost an additional 50% storage and picking space. Efficiencies have come too. Premium Apparel are now able to service the same amount of orders per day, with 1 FTE less picking staff, freeing up people to ensure the warehouse is operating to its full potential. This is very important in the competittive world of e-commerce we live in today, and is unlikely to lose momentum..
Premium Apparel Ltd is now situated just off the Motorway at 94 Highbrook Drive, making it much more accessible for our customers. If you in the Area, please stop by for a coffee and take a look.
