Media Release: 2021 Sydney and Brisbane Promotional Products Shows

Last week, the Australasian Promotional Products Association finally ended the promotional product industry’s long, cumbersome recess from networking events, trade shows and exhibitions.

On March 24 and 26, against all odds, the Australasian Promotional Products Association (APPA) held two of the most successful trade shows in the history of the Association: the 2021 Sydney Promotional Products Show and the 2021 Brisbane Promotional Products Show.

It had been 580 days since the last APPA trade show was held in Sydney on August 21, 2019, and more than two years since APPA last brought its famously popular Roadshow to Brisbane on March 22, 2019.

Known as the ‘impossible shows’ to some, APPA waged a brave war against successive waves of pre-show obstacles including torrential rain, freight delays, and consecutive COVID-19 outbreaks to bring APPA members and friends the shows they had all been waiting for.

Deprived of any industry event or trade show for far too long, distributors emerged in droves to visit their favourite suppliers in Brisbane and Sydney. Exhibiting suppliers included renowned brands and industry stalwarts like JS Supplies, Entity Brands, Logo Line, Penline, PromoCollection, SHINY, Nottage International and Portwest.

Beautiful, impossibly sunny weather on both show mornings foreshadowed the lively, energetic nature of the shows throughout the day. Exhibitors and attendees alike spoke excitedly to APPA about the wonderful atmosphere at the events, and the quality of the connections they had established with new clients or suppliers on the show floor.

Among several new features at the shows were three dedicated product areas (What’s New, Made In Australia and Eco-Friendly), where distributors could peruse similarly themed products from an array of exhibitors- all in the one location.

Close to 500 individually approved promotional product distributors attended the Sydney Promotional Products Show at Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday March 24, while 385 distributors attended the slightly smaller Brisbane Promotional Products Show at the Royal International Convention Centre two days later.

Attendance numbers were only marginally lower than those recorded in 2019, an extraordinary accomplishment in the new ‘post-COVID’ era of events and exhibitions.

“Everyone who attended the Sydney or Brisbane Promotional Product Shows should be applauded for their commitment to their respective businesses, the promotional products community, and the events industry as a whole,” said APPA CEO Wesley Fawaz.

“APPA is one of the first Associations in Australia to run a successful COVID-Safe trade show, and we are extremely proud to have played an important role in rebuilding confidence and momentum in the business events industry.”

APPA would like to thank the valued sponsors of the Sydney and Brisbane Promotional Products Shows for their belief in and contribution to the events: JS Supplies, SHINY, PromoCollection, Sagamore Industries, JB’s Wear, Logo Line and Banners Ink.
